Introduction 
The department of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) was established in 1987. Along with the upgrading of the school to technological university, in 1998 the systems for two-year and four-year curricula were also subsequently established at
our department. In 2001, a Master’s degree program was setup. Then in 2004, on-job training master program was also launched. And the department of Industrial Engineering and Management will setup doctor degree program in 2016. The objective is to cultivate high-level industrial management personnel with a view to meeting the goal in terms of the currently industrial management globalization for personnel development.

Currently, master's degree program inculcates students with industrial management background, which includes one class for day-time master and one class for night-time further-education-promotion on-job training master respectively. The major aim is to cultivate the managers who can apply the academic theory industrial engineering and management to the practical arena of industrial business. This enables people to learn the skills and knowledge of planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating. When coupled with the promotion of computerization and automation, they can capitalize on varied management resources to accomplish the task with respect to management systemization, computerization, and production automation as well as others related. Till now, students graduated from all curricula have been up to three thousand. Alumni have dedicated themselves to their vocations all over everywhere, domestically and overseas. With the excellent expertise and responsible attitude, they are generally adored by the organizations they served.


The Educational Goal 
International: Students are educated ability of lifelong education and thinking of international. Professional: The department of IEM has made every effort to educated people with the Professional expertise and personality in terms of industrial engineering and management.
Practice: The department of IEM cultivates students with practical ability, innovative research, and solves the problem of high-level professionals.
Personality Education: As far as the personality education is concerned, the emphasis is on the ethics of students’ expertise in order to train students with the attitudes of being actively progressive, prudently planning, patiently coordinating, and ambitiously responsible.

Characteristics 
The department of IEM characterizes the courses into two groups of Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management. For Industrial Engineering, the focus is on factory resources and production system planning, cultivating students towards the abilities of production system analysis, design and architecture enhancement, and equipping them with the expertise of automation and electronics. As far as the Industrial Management is concerned, students learn how to use management system, organization resources and information technology, and through the training of the core courses such as manufacturing strategy, design management, production management, quality management, information management and material logistics management, they can be well cultivated with the capabilities of management integration.

With a view to the further education and employment for students when graduated,
the development of the current stage is as follows.:
•  (1)Flexible adaptation of the courses design to meet the needs of the industry
•  (2)the enhancement of faculties and equipments to upgrade the teaching system
•  (3)the investment of industrial-educational plan to facilitate the nation’s industrial development
•  (4)the increase of research and teaching competency to escalate our department’s competition.


Course Program 
The course program is characterized by four core axes as follows.

•Human Engineering in Design and Production Manufacturing System Course.
Combining courses of Human Engineering, Production Scheduling System (PSS), Production Management, Industrial Safety and Sanitation and so on, these courses educate students to get knowledge of human action, ability, limitation and other property that apply on tools, mechanical, system, assignment, work and environment in design. In addition, the department of IEM also trains students’ ability of planning, design, analysis, integration in production and manufacturing.
•Statistical Quality Management and Calculate Decision System Course.
Combining courses of Quality Management, Introduction to Taguchi Methods, Design of Experiment, Introduction to Multi-Objective Decision-Making Method and so on, these courses educate students to utilize statistical and calculated methods to get useful information. In addition, students can use this information to analysis, explain and predict.
•Business Management and Electronization System Course.
Combining courses of Business Decision Making and Analysis, Industry Analysis and Improvement, E-commerce, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and so on, these courses about automated production and electronization educate students get knowledge and technology of business. In addition, students can combine information technology with management.
•Service Innovation and Technology Management System Course.
Combining courses of creative problem solving, technology management, service science and management and so on, these courses educate students to research method, policy, design and practice of new service development, and they can integrate information science, management, engineering and so on. In addition, it training students to utilize systematic approach to serve as the core actuation innovative soft technique and problem-solving.
